RE: Question about rear kitchens:-)

We have a rear kichen and LOVE it.
The floor plan is awesome. It really does give you a seperate living room and kitchen. I could never get used to looking over the kitchen counter to the TV.

RE: storing tv's

Hmmm let me think. Oh yeah we un plug them. Remove them from the mounts and bring them in the house for a nice warm winter.
They seem to enjoy being with other telivisions. It's nice to see them all huddled around the fireplace having hot cocoa and smoores.
However this year the DW said we should send them to Bermuda for a week. After all there were some good shows on this year.

RE: clear screen door

We recently did ours. I have pix at www.flickr.com/photos/agrnbrt.
I did it in 2 pieces instead of 3. But I went with an outside mounting. One thing I will say...it was a very expensive project.

RE: Had to laugh...me and a dozen others

First off let me thank the following: Jummy3, Pickle 2, SrChief78 & Kaydejay. You got it. The rest of you seem to get what I am saying. Pure and simple. There was the PERFECT example of a man with too much money who listened to his dealer and his EGO (I got the biggest so I am the best) instead of common sense. He knew it all when it came to people trying to talk with him. I gave 2 snipits of the conversations.
Nothing anyone was trying to tell him was going to help. He simply knew it all.
Madmav, there was a GVWR and that was 21,000. It also had a UVW of 18,000. Last I remember that ment dry weight bud. I wish I took notice of the pin and axle numbers, but someone else did and was also shocked when looking at them and then to the truck and hitch.
Tearza, since you brought up my first rig and mistakes I made. Well unlike this chap. I made NONE. How and why? I researched my truck, the type of camper I was looking into buying and DID not listen to the dealer or my ego. I was new and knew I was new. I started with a pop up and had NO problems and NEVER PUT ANYONE IN DANGER on the road when I towed it.

Had to laugh...me and a dozen others

We just got back from ODW Gettysburg today. We had a great time all around, but Thursday night was a hoot. About 6pm a Ford 350 super duty, quad cab, single rear wheels, pulled into the CG. It was towing a NEW, first trip out, paper temp tag, 41 foot quad slide, triple axle toy hauler. The truck's rear end was quite low as you could imagine. Well as they came down our loop to try to fit into a site. Someone else on the loop (who didn't want his truck or rig hit) went over to let him know he couldn't fit in the spot that was next to me. That it would be too tight. The driver told him he was "sure he could"...well he couldn't. By now there were about a dozen of us watching the show. As he walked off to look for another spot I looked at his specs tag on the side of the rig, and was amazed when I saw a 18,000 dry weight on it. Besides the truck being only a F350, he was towing with a Reese 18K hitch. So I walked over to the driver and asked him if he realized he was a little short on truck and hitch for that much rig? "Oh no, we have plenty of truck here" his wife chimed in, before he could say something....With that we all shook our heads and had a chuckle as we went to continue our walks. Later afer he rode around some more he found a spot he could get into and set up. Of course most who had watched the opening act had to take a closer look. Oh yeah, no grease on the pin or hitch. And NO friction disc either. He trailered it dry and you could see the bad scrapes on top of the plate. (he had just picked it up at Grumbines in Harrisburg only 40 miles away) Once again, another idiot with more money then brains. And one who believed what the dealer told him. I can only hope that when he has a failure of some kind on the road. No one else gets hurt from his stupidity.

RE: Would You buy a used Alfa

No. They were over priced, over engineered (the basement AC is a perfect example of that), not worth the price overall and yes them being out of business adds to the equation as well. No support when, not if, when you have a problem.
But hey, you asked and that's my opinion.

RE: The almighty DUH....

If this is the worst you have done. You're doing fine bro. At least it was a mistake that didn't hurt you, the truck, the rig or the wallet.
Let's all give an AMEN!

RE: leveling with man made decking material?

I agree with Iv2rom about the weight. That's why I use regular decking (5/4" x 6"). I carry 1 single 6' length & 1 double board (stepped) 7' length. I also carry about a dozen 7" lengths for under my landing gear.

RE: new 5th wheel cover

Good move on the cover! It's a very smart move. I always laugh when I see a rig that's 2or 4 years old that looks like it's 20 becuse it's never gets covered.
Also on this subject...we have always covered our rigs. From pop up to the new 5er. However since I am C H E A P! I am still using the cover from our old 32ft Bounder. It dosent have that form fit in the front of a 5er cover. But it works great and allows me to slide the MC trailer under the 5er's front and cover it as well. I do have to say that this will most likely be the last winter we use and becaus it's 5 years old now. So....I'm gonna have to buy a new one for next year.

RE: Reese 5th Wheel hitch Problem

I agree 100% with Lyndiwagon. You are binding the jaws. I have the same hitch. Twice I have had what you dicribed happen but realized when looking closely that I had presure on the jaws. Just take your time and make sure you're lined up right and you should have no problems.
